Greek Philosophy...Research Greek Philosophers.

Nov. 18 - Today we are going to look closely at the ideas of some of the Greek Philosophers.  The Greeks had varying ideas on how the world and the human mind worked.  They spent many years studying these ideas.  We are going to focus on Pythagoras, Zeno (Stoicism), Epicurus, Sophists, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.  Each group will be assigned one of these philosophers and must create an informative power point to explain the ideas.  Each power point should be 6 slides (not including title slide).  You may include pictures but they should be explained and add to the understanding.  Remember that people don't use power point to write a long report...keep to the facts.  Also, YOU must be able to explain the slides in your own words...plagiarism and "copy/paste" will result in a zero on the assignment.  Have fun and make us "think"...

Finally, your homework assignment.  Due Tuesday.
Find a minimum of 5 ways that Greek influence in present in the modern world.  Be specific on the Greek influence and its modern counterpart.  Describe and illustrate each item.

Next week:  We begin to study the Romans.  You should start reading Chapter 11 (pg. 210 - 229)
There will be a test on Religions, India, China, and Greece on Thursday.

Don't forget to work on your articles.  You should have 4 articles by now.
