Second Industrial Revolution

During the early period of the Industrial Revolution, most of the impact and growth was entered around Great Britain.  Great Britain attempted to maintain this control on Industrial power by passing strict rules and regulations regarding selling or copying any designs of the machinery used.
However, as people left Britain, they took designs with them and opened factories in new areas.  Before long the Industrial Revolution spread to Belgium, German, France, and the United States.  By 1900, the United States was the leading nation.

The effects of Industrialization caused changes in politics, culture, and standards of living.  The technological advantages as well as increased wealth helped the Western nations become more powerful than ever before.

Using the diagram below, read pages 476 - 480 and describe the changes, innovations, and advances of the Second Industrial Revolution.

The French Revolution was a period of turmoil, reform, war, and enlightenment.  From the meeting of the Estates-General in 1789 to the emergence of Napoleon in 1799, the changes taking place in France were watched closely by the rest of the world.  In many ways, the French Revolution brought more enlightenment changes than the American Revolution.

  4. Portugal "finds" Brazil.

After you complete the timelines, write 3 generalizations/conclusions that you can see after studying the timeline.
